Currency question for small cash purchases in Bosnia

Has anyone travelled Bosnia with just euros and a charge card (e.g. for hotels, restaurants, and car gas)? Or are Bosnian convertible marks needed for small purchases (e.g. grocery store items, markets)?

If convertible marks are needed, what is the best way to get about $150 worth? I am unsure about using an ATM. We'll be in Mostar and Sarajevo for 3 days total.

I am sure there are places you could pay in euros but I wouldn’t think the small places would be those. ATMs are fine. In 2022, for a 2 week trip, I made 3 cash withdrawals from an ATM. In 2023, our group of 3 paid our apartment in cash so I needed more cash for that week’s trip in Sarajevo - making 2 ATM withdrawals.

I used Euros from time to time on my trips there. Because its a fixed exchange (roughly 2 to 1) people are more forgiving of taking them. But i prefer to go to an ATM or an exchnge house and get Marks. Many of the ATMs here are tap these days and I suspect you can find one that is tap in BiH if that is what is worrying you. If the fees worry you, given the cost of your trip, whats another $3? Go have fun.
