Best route from KOTOR montenegro to MOSTAR bosnia

Hello
I am travelling in June to Croatia, bosnia and montenegro. I am wondering if someone can tell me the best route to go from kotor to mostar. I'm looking for a detailed route, as there are many options on google maps. Also do you have a driving time on how long this would take?

Where do i get a green card to cross borders?
Thanks!

I'm not sure of your nationality, so I have no idea how you'd get a visa or if you'd need one. As a US passport holder, I was able to cross borders and enter both Croatia and Bosnia without a visa - just limit my stay to 90 days in Schengen countries.

In May 2015, I drove from Kotor to Mostar via the Bosnian town of Trebinje (it's in Hertezovina - so is Mostar). I spent a night in Trebinje - nice, untouristed town, with a beautiful old stone bridge - then on to Sarajevo through Mostar. I would say this drive between Kotor, Trebinje, and Mostar isn't incredibly scenic - not bad, but the scenery on the Bay of Kotor is amazing, and the drive from Mostar to Sarajevo along the Neretva River is also beautifully scenic, so the drive between Kotor-Trebinje-Mostar seems pretty ordinary, if pretty in parts.

Sorry to clarify i mean I have been hearing about needing a green car for rental cars when you drive between countries. I am from Canada so I know i dont need a visa or anything. I just heard of this extra paper work required when renting a car.

What is the roadway you took to Trebinje from Kotor? There are a few different routes and roads to take.

I'd ask the car-rental company about the green card. You'll certainly need the company's permission to take a car rented in Croatia into Montenegro and Bosnia. Permission may be given as a matter or course, but you need to be sure.

You need to reserve a car that already includes the insurance card ("green card"). It's usually an extra fee, but it varies by the company. In 2015, for example, I think it was a 40 Euro flat fee from Oryx for the cross border card. Other companies may charge you a per-day fee up to some maximum amount for the whole rental.

Just make sure you reserve the car with the insurance card ahead of time; if it's not possible to request this during the booking, contact the car company as soon as you make it and make sure you get it added and find out the cost.

Although it is highly unlikely you will use this road going from Kotor to Mostar, you should be aware of it. From Kotor there is a road that leads away from the bay inland. The views are post card spectacular -- unbelievably scenic! And you may want to check it out. But, It goes up the side of a steep mountain and has 25 numbered 180 degree switchback turns and at least 75 other sharp turns. Rock wall on one side and nothing on the other. Can't remember the name or number of the road, but it went to the towns of Njegusi and Cetinje. I'd hate for you to get into a scary situation without being forewarned. If anyone in your party is prone to motion sickness or has a problem with heights you might want to avoid this road despite the jaw dropping views. You can go to bing.com, use the map feature, and see aerial views of the road. You can also check it out on googlemaps.com. On 12 Mar. 2017 there was a thread titled "Greece Montenegro Croatia". One person included a link to the map that shows the road. Another person had a link to a video made along parts of the road.
