Travel writer after reading Rick and Cameron

I read both Rick and Cameron's travel memoirs last year and thoroughly enjoyed them. I'd love to find another travel writer to add to my reading list this year. Any suggestions?

Michael Palin is charming and witty. Anything by him.

I didn't always agree with his line of thinking but A.A.Gill could either be blunt, terribly nasty or terribliy funny: sometimes all three at the same time.

You might try the classic Mark Twain "The Innocents Abroad" - I found it timely commentary on people and traveling, even if it is 150+ years old. I liked "A Year in Provence" by Peter Mayle. "A Walk in the Woods" by Bill Bryson (yes I know, not Europe, but it is SO FUNNY).

Paul Theroux's books are oldies but goodies. Asia, Africa, South America. I don't care for his more recent work but his original accounts of local travel in faraway places really capture the experience.

Bill Bryson is my favourite travel writer.
