Movies: Never on Sunday, Zorba the Greek, Z (for something heavier).
Books: Mary Renault's "The Bull from the Sea" or "The Last of the Wine." Another book I enjoyed was Sofka Zinovieff's "Eurydice Street," about discovering Greece and its people while living and raising kids in an Athens suburb. Leonard Cottrell's "The Bull of Minos" about some of the archeological discoveries. Bulfinch's "Mythology," a 19th century classic telling of the stories, loved by many kids.
