Christine, we first saw this on at our Antibes rental while snow-birding this past winter. Good for you for having posted about it. It is one of those rare WWII flicks that made a deliberate choice NOT to dwell too much on dreary awfulness with foreboding drone soundtrack.
It straddles the drama and the relatively light-hearted well.

I’ve watched it twice. I had not realized that it was just released this year. What a great movie!! Sad that Engzell was not fully appreciated in his lifetime— a true hero. Maybe there are more heroes working under the radar to help the millions of innocent people suffering under wars around the world now.
