I just saw this. It’s mostly in Irish Gaelic, with a little English here and there. Subtitles for both. A very beautiful and melancholy film. Recommend highly.
Thanks for the recommendation.
Not a sequel I imagine, or any reference to The Quiet Man, from over 70 years ago, directed by John Ford and starring John Wayne and Maureen O’Hara?
No relation, as best I could tell.
The Quiet Girl is based on Foster, a 2010 novella in English by Claire Keegan. I’ve read many favorable comments about the book.
Foster is beautiful, as is Keegan's other novella, Small Things Like These.
Thank you, Carole and Roubrat. My local public library has both works mentioned, plus others, so I think I’ll give them a read.
I'll give it a go. Tonight I watched The Guard, starring Brendan Gleeson (he's teriffic, as usual) - not for the faint of heart or ears.
Is it in theaters, or streaming?
It’s in theaters, and you can pre-order it on Apple TV.
