Can anyone recommend a guide book that includes Puglia, Bascilicata and Calabria? The RS Italy books skips these areas although they are included on the the South of Italy tour. The only book I found on Amazon was Lonely Planet Southern Italy but the reviews said it was not helpful.
Thanks.
Well, it is helpful - particularly for figuring out the public transportation (find that in the back of the book). That said, it is not an RS guide. You might also look at the Rough Guide.
I agree that there are not any useful guidebooks on Southern Italy. Sorry if this is too late for you, but we found Lonely Planet to be the closest to a guide book. Having said that, I found a lot by using WiFi locally, picking a place, and googling it. TripAdvisor was probably the most current. Even so, I'd love to help someone get something better for these areas. The Europeans seem to have found Southern Italy, but we are far behind!
I bought the Lonely Planet guidebook. It’s OK but not great. My trip is in May. Since I originally posted this i have found info on the internet and bookmarked multiple websites.
Hugh’s new South of Italy scrapbook reads like a guidebook. Lots of uncaptioned pictures and info about each day’s tour stops.
