Just received our 2024 France guidebook (haven’t opened it yet) and notice a distinct difference in the thickness of it compared to 2022 book. Does anyone know what he has pulled out to achieve the new smaller version?
Interesting, on Amazon the new edition is 1168 pages and the last edition is 1208 pages. Perhaps your public library would have the older edition and you can compare. I’m just about to buy the kindle version so I’m curious too.
Lyndash, that's interesting. According to this site, it has 1183 pages. https://store.ricksteves.com/shop/p/france-guidebook
Streamlining? Removing things based on feedback? Possibly fewer lodging/restaurant recommendations due to closures from the pandemic? Could be lots of reasons.

It's possible that Amazon uses actual numbered pages for their page count and RS is including those misc pages numbered with Roman Numerals. Just a guess there.
Maybe it's printed on thinner paper?
Fewer color page inserts, possibly. I know in a recent Monday travel talk with Cameron Hewitt (one of his frequent guide book collaborators) said they're putting in fewer specific details about opening hours for restaurants and attractions as things change and people can check those details on the internet.
