Paris Travel Guide for Seniors

I just received this guide book from Amazon. It has an Amazon connection and I think that you can only get it from Amazon.

It is paperback and light. I will be able to take it with me. Have had a little time to look at it but not read it. I am really liking what I am seeing.

Large print but I do need my readers. Maps for different areas also in large print. Easy to understand maps.

Different walks suggested.

Love the way they do attractions. For instance, Let's take Notre Dame. On the left side of the page, yopu will have a picture of Notre Dame with history. On the right side of the page, you will have tips including toilet information. Every site and attraction has toilet information.

Like I said, I just got it and have not had much time or really any time to read it but I am really liking what I have had a change to see.

And it is called "Paris Travel Guide for Seniors" then the next line says Explore Paris At Your Own Pace with Step-By-Step Itineraries.

It will be interesting to see your review of the book once you've had a chance to actually read it. Its interesting that a travel company based in India and the vast majority of their group tours focused on South and South East Asia would choose to publish a guide book on Paris. Does the book have any information about the author?

Hello CJean

I do not see anything about an author.

On the back cover, it says:

Approved By Thomas Petraud
Local Tour Guide &
French Culture Enthiusiast

The picture of him is strange. it looks like someone from the 1500's with. a halo around his head

On one of the last inside pages, it says Editor: T Petraud , G Fonseca

Copyright 2026 Golden Agers Travel

On the last inside page, it says
Made in the USA
Thorton CO

I see nothing at all about authors

There are some QR Codes within the book but I do not relate to QR Codes.

I am probably not going to read it word for word. I will take it with me and look it over in the airport and while on the plane.

I will review it while on the trip and when I get home. I will let you know how it works.

Now, I am assuming that it is a small business that only sells on Amazon. It is promoted and that is how I heard about it.

There are reviews on Amazon.

there are now "books" created by AI, this does kinda sound like one

Just fwiw, this Petraud is not listed as a guide by the French National Federation of Guides, and has zero footprint on Google. Unless he's the same gamer who is all over Mario Kart. Not saying it's so in your case, but you might want to look up the increasing problem Amazon has with fake (AI generated) books. The fact that your book can only be bought on Amazon was what got my spidey senses tingling.

Phred and CJean

Well I might be out $21.00, not the end of the world.

I was attracted to it by the title and that it was promoted on Amazon.

There are over 100 reviews with most of them positive but they could be AI generated or fake people.

It looks good. it looks like it has some good information.

In just over two weeks, I will be in Paris and we will see.

I hope it proves useful to you, however I would be extremely cautious scanning any of the QR codes in the book as it is possible they will lead to non-official ticketing sites. FWIW, anyone can self-publish a book on Amazon with a few clicks, I know several people who have done it. Amazon does not check the accuracy of content.

Thank you CL

I do not relate to QR codes which is a kind way of saying it. I will not be scanning any of the QR codes.

But I once became the victim of a scammer on Amazon. A criminal had opened a store on Amazon. I possibly searched on the store or may have even bought something. The crook got my credit card information and tried to charge $1,600 worth of books using my Citi Credit Card.

That was one of my pre vacation crises one year. I always have a pre vacation crises.

I am a little uncomfortable with the book now but it is nice looking and looks like it has some good information.

I think that I am going to review it on Amazon and ask some questions.
