There is a new movie on Netflix about Operation Mincemeat for anyone interested in the Allied operation in Sicily.

Thanks for the post! We were just in Sicily and went to the Allied Landings museum. I recommend it.

I haven’t seen the movie yet but I’ve read the book by Ben MacIntyre that it’s based on and it’s a terrific read. Actually he’s written several spy novels based on actual events and they’re all good.

We learned about Operation Husky on the Sicily tour in April when we went through the World War II museum in Catania. How does Operation Mincemeat differ? Haven’t heard of this one.

Thanks Donna, it was very good.

Luv2, Operation Mincemeat was one of the diversionary operations meant to protect the Allied invasion of Sicily. The movie/story was actually more about the setting up of the diversionary operations in London than a straight war movie with battle scenes

Without giving too much away, Operation Mincemeat was how the British gave false information to the enemy to make them think Sicily would not be invaded.

Thanks Donna. We were going to revisit Catania in 2020. We missed the museum on our first visit in 2014. In the meantime the movie and/or the book will suffice! ;)
