Many libraries, mine included, have a video streaming service called Kanopy. It is free with a library card. They carry courses by "The Great Courses," college level lectures on many subjects. I bought my flight tickets to London and Paris 4 months before I am leaving, so in that time I have been watching history lectures. I can personally recommend, "Living the French Revolution and the Age of Napoleon," "A History of England from the Tudors to the Stuarts," and "Story of Medieval England From King Arthur to the Tudor Conquest."
What a great idea. Thanks for passing on that information.
Kanopy also has a number of good foreign films that may help one understand the culture.
Kanopy has a lot of old East German movies on it. Those are fun to watch. There is no such thing as redemption in those films. You cross the communists, and it's over.
I wish my library had it. :(
