Thanks for the heads up and link. I love his deadpan sense of humor. I’ll be watching, binging probably this weekend. BTW, am I the only one who finds Feed Phil very annoying? Can’t watch him.

I love Eugene Levy and can't wait to see this. Also, loved Stanley Tucci's Italy series. Not a fan of Phil.

We tried about half of the 1st episode of the first season. Hated it. Phil seemed to be smirking at every meal. We were making the comparison to Anthony Bourdain. AD threw his whole self into each experience. He embraced the unknown. It felt like Phil was making faces at each new meal

Interesting article. Thanks for sharing. I have to admit I historically haven't watched many mass-market-produced travel shows except the RS shows, though I follow a few YouTube travel vloggers (I may have made up that word -- spell check does not like it). I caught an Anthony Bourdain show on Austria recently on a flight and enjoyed it quite a bit.

Uh, no, not by a long shot. I get the sense that traveling with Phil would be OK about half the time, seems a pleasant enough guy, but the other half you would just want to crawl in a corner or exit out the back door. The over reaction to the smallest things, the silly bits about nothing, mock surprise over common things, just gets old real quick.

I like Eugene Levy, I don't partake of Apple TV, but I imagine he will have to be careful to not take the unenthusiastic traveler schtick too far; works for a movie or a comedy series, but reality travel TV, that may be too much.

Had a little of that problem with Jack Whitehall's "Travels With My Father" (British show), it was a good series, but sometimes the quirks and antics around annoying Dad, detracted from the show.

Basically, the same joke can get old after a few repetitions, or maybe I just prefer my travel and food shows to be about travel and food.

Try to watch Paul Hollywood’s city bakes series on YouTube. He visits bakeries around the world, and does one bake at a bakery. Some savory but mostly sweet. very straightforward, no bits. We’ll be going to his Paris suggestions in April.
