Happy 65th Birthday to Pico Iyer

Rick Steves has Pico Iyer on his radio show / podcast pretty often, and it hadn't occurred to me until today's birthdays that the two of them are pretty close in age, Pico born this day in 1957 in Oxford, and worked summers during college by doing the research footwork for travel guides, and then as a travel editor at Time magazine.

Iyer hasn't thought of himself as a travel writer in more than twenty years, and Rick of course thinks of himself as an educator as much as a travel businessman. What are your favorite Pico Iyer writings?
