Grand Designs - Isle of Skye

Stumbled on a series on Netflix called Grand Designs. It is a show about turning ramshackle property/buildings into amazing architecturally designed homes/ buildings. I especially enjoyed the one that takes place on the Isle of Skye in Scotland. This episode highlights the beauty of the surrounding land. If you enjoy architecture and scenery, this might be a series for you.

Yes, that was ages ago wasn’t it? Downtown Seattle is just not the same.

I’m retired now and have a lot of time on my hand. Upcoming trip in June is Colorado to visit my cousins and then, fingers crossed, Costa Rica with my granddaughter in August.

He's a barrel of joy isn't he !
I find his flowery language a bit much.
The one built in the Lakes during what seemed a monsoon season would have tested anyone's fortitute.

I believe the Skye one is now a seasonal coffee shop .
Last time I was up there my accommodation was a bit more rustic, The Lookout on Rubha Hunish..

Emma, I also really enjoyed the water tower transformation. Oh, and the comments from neighbors for the River Thames boathouse were funny. I did notice the dates for most of these builds were way back 7-8 years or more so imagined that the series is old news for most of you living in the UK. ITs wonderful that Netflix picks up on these series so that I am able to watch them.

Yes, all of those series are great fun. I just wish, for once, there was a series about remodels for the hoi polloi. In the States, we have the venerable "This Old House" but most of those rehabs are $1M and up; interesting, yes, but largely useless information regarding radiant heating in the greenhouse and oh-so-lovely custom laser etched and enameled tiles for one of the upstairs master bathrooms.
