I understand that historical movies, series, and novels inspire many of us to travel to see people and places for ourselves.
Although this has been played out a bit before, which movies, books, etc. inspired you to travel?
Apple TV has an excellent series, imo, starring Michael Douglas playing one of the great American Founding Fathers, Benjamin Franklin, warts and all. I appreciate how the series shows Franklin's genius and human failings. I doubt there was a better person during the 1770s for the job.
Yes, I was a bit skeptical of Michael Douglas in this role, but he performs admirably. Again, imo. Nothing against Douglas, but I thought this might be a big out of his league. He's no Laurence Olivier or Daniel Day Lewis (who would have been perfect).
If you don't have Apple Plus you can "buy" it for one month and then cancel after finishing the series.
I'll add Band of Brothers as my father was part a medic in the 101st Airborne and was trapped in Bastogne during the Battle of the Bulge.
