Does anyone watch the QI reels (or the actual show?)

I LOVE watching QI ("Quite Interesting"). I think it's probably one of the funniest shows I've ever seen on television. Stephen Fry was wonderful when he was the host in the early days and now that Sandi Toksvig is hosting, I think it's even funnier. You can find it on BritBox, amd find more info about it here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/QI

Unfortunately, I'm on a temporary moratorium from Britbox because I'm trying to balance my streaming costs, so I haven't been able to watch it. But I found out that the BBC is putting clips from the show on Facebook and Instagram as reels. So if you ever just need a good quick laugh, head for FB and Insta and look for it.

If you click follow, then they'll keep coming up. I watch four to five a night and they almost always make me laugh hysterically till tears are streaming down my face. Alan Davies (a permanent panelist) is an absolute wonder, and he could make a brick wall laugh. Sandi Toksvig has that really dry humor that you don't even realize is coming until it's there, and then it just hits you. The others are guest comedians and are just so funny, especially with the humor coming off the top of their heads. The improv there is amazing.

Anyway, here's a link from Facebook and one from Instagram to get you started if you want to check it out:

If you like QI are you aware of the Podcast ‘No such thing as fish’?
It is produced by the ‘QI Elves’ who write and produce the show. It’s very funny as well as informative and has been going for years so you will have lots to catch up with.

My H loves this show! I hear him laughing when he's watching shows / segments on YouTube, our preferred service.

the phrases VPN and iPlayer come to mind, can't imagine why.......

In UK we have two versions, the 30 minute edit for BBC and QI XL which is a 45 minute edit which also goes out on BBC in a later slot on a different night but is really intended for a 1 hour slot on channels with ads (any jokes about Dave refer to one such channel). The BBC licence fee which right wing news likes to attack costs £0.50 per day - that's about 67 cents a day for 4 all UK TV channels, a few "nations" TV channels, more radio than is really needed, more streaming from iPlayer than anyone could manage and the Sounds podcast library - all ad free. Tell me about streaming costs.....

Do try to find the episode with Teri Hatcher (Lois Lane) as guest....

Emma. No, I was not, but I am now. I found it on Apple Podcast, so I will give it a whirl. Thanks!

Sandancisco, your husband has good taste! Seriously, with my deepening despair over what's going on in our country, listening to that for just 15 or 20 minutes gives me a new lease on life!

me.crewe, I actually saw the Terri Hatcher episode a month or so ago. She's not really my favorite person, but it was funny! I do know about using VPN, and I will get that, but at this point I'm happy to wait and just catch the reels for now. Although I have a feeling that day is coming soon.

I've seen all the episodes since it premiered.

All of the episodes are available on BBC iPlayer. Mardee, remember our discussion about that?

Frank, yes, I definitely do, and that is another reason to get the VPN. I'm going to start planning on that over the next week or so. Thanks again!

I've watch all the full episodes on youtube from A to R or S, whatever the last year available was up until a year or two ago. Then I lost track. They are full episodes uploaded by individuals, so not BBC-authorized. Is that a problem?

One of the frequent panelists is David Mitchell. I'm currently listening to the audio version of his history of British monarchs. Also hilarious. He did the recording himself and sounds like he's enjoying every minute. He was also excellent in the TV series Ludwig. I do hope there's a second season.

Ha ha, Teresa, I remember that one! That was a good one! And it made me laugh all over again! Thanks for the link! I miss Stephen as the host, but I do love Sandi.

Did you ever watch Stephen in A Bit of Fry and Laurie? That's a good show, too. I think that's still on BritBox as well, at least it used to be.

Emma, that is hysterical! They are all so funny! I think that's what I like about all those shows. You see the same people kind of float between the different shows, and they're always amazing and always funny. It's just such a pleasure to watch them.

Emma, I’m coming back to say that I’m almost finished watching that entire show. The first part was funny when I posted before but oh my gosh it gets even better. I am laughing hysterically and have been for the last hour.

I even decided to pull it up on my TV so I could watch it on the big screen and it’s even better that way. Thank you so much for sending this link! Now I have to find some more after this.

Mardee, Would I Lie to You is very funny at the best of times but when Bob Mortimer is on it’s a must watch. He has become a bit of a national treasure.

His program ‘Mortimer and Whitehouse :Gone Fishing’is a lovely and often a very funny watch. 2 comedians visit beautiful areas of the country to fish and talk. It’s very gentle and also has the joy of Ted the dog in later episodes. Bob falls over a lot :-)

Finally a very quick one, it’s a clip from ‘Travelman’ with Bob and Richard Ayoade. I have never watched it and not laughed out loud, it’s particularly funny because Richard Ayoade has a very deadpan persona and Bob basically breaks him! The Travelman program can be fun 2 comedians spend a weekend in a town visiting different sights.

just a quick word about No Such Thing As A Fish - if you're from Kansas you may find some of the jokes and in-jokes a little risqué.

forewarned is forearmed. (there must be one of those jokes in there somewhere too)

Not much is out of bounds.

I listen in the car and more than once the humour has nearly had me in trouble
