Anyone watching the German series, Kleo?

If not, definitely check it out. Kleo is a "cheerfully murderous German series" about a former Stasi spy set before and around the time of the fall of the Berlin Wall. It is CRAZY good! The series is in German but English subtitles are available. Quirky and fun characters and a wonderful storyline. If you enjoy Berlin and the era of the DDR (GDR), I think you would enjoy this show. Seriously, I can't stop watching it. https://www.netflix.com/title/81216677

Hi Mardee, it came out here a few months ago. I loved it. Good mix of mystery and comedy.

Meanwhile Netflix still hasn't aired Season 4 of Babylon Berlin. Finally order the DVD from the UK.

Some might benefit from the notice that the show is pretty violent. Not gory, but definitely violent. But... in a funny way?

If you were horrified by the violence in Pulp Fiction you might not like Kleo.

I watched it. Interesting with good references to Cold War details.

Stan, I thought so too. I found it interesting that they used Erich Mielke as a character. The shows starts with a disclaimer that says, “This is a true story. None of this really happened.”

Scudder, I agree - it reminds me of a Quentin Tarantino movie with his sort-of surrealistic violence.

We watched it already. It was very entertaining. Now watching Lidia Poet, an Italian series set in 1883 Turin about a woman lawyer trying to be admitted to the bar to practice law. Fun period piece.

I started it but haven't finished it yet. As a Cold War baby who spent a large portion of my childhood growing up on US Army bases in (West) Germany, I am obsessed with Germany's take on the era. I loved Deutschland 83/86/89, too.

Kleo was the start of my current obsession with the GDR. For those like me, it’s nothing like Kleo but “Under the Same Sky” and “The Weisensee Saga” were both excellent.
