I highly recommend this lovely memoir by Patrick Bringley because it’s beautifully written and a deeply felt homage to the priceless treasures contained in the Met. He worked at The New Yorker after college and then his beloved brother died, he quit and became a guard for 10 years in the most beautiful place he knew where he could be alone in silence with his grief. What a gift to us! He writes knowledgeably about the art and the innards of the Met. I picked up the book because I had just been to the museum this summer when I was on a weekend visit to NYC.
