Does anyone know if the road restrictions are still in effect?? Heading to Zion & Bryce, mid May.

Go to Zion's web site. All closures and restrictions are given.

If you mean “restrictions” rather than restoration, note that private vehicles cannot be driven into the main canyon when the shuttle service is in operation. That includes May. The exception is if you have a reservation at the lodge inside the park—then you can drive your car to the lodge.

The road through the park (via the tunnel) is not restricted. There is currently construction at the entrance gate (from Springdale) that restricts traffic to one lanes.

Check the Bryce Canyon National Park website. Because of all of the snow, currently the main road in Bryce is open up to mile 10 of the 18 mile scenic road. Some of the trails are closed because of winter conditions. Hopefully by mid May the road and trails will be fully open, but it would be good to check in case you need to adjust your expectations or the length of your time there. The lookout points are beautiful in Bryce and the Visitors Center is great. There is not much to do in Bryce Canyon City itself.
