Yosemite Valley accomodations

We are planning a trip for the spring and would like to stay right in Yosemite Valley with walks outside the door.
Years ago we stayed in a nice cabin and don’t remember the name—Yosemite Valley Lodge maybe?
Some of the reviews of the place are pretty bad.
Any suggestions of where to stay?

Before I read joe32F’s reply, I was in the process of considering a reservation with “National Park Reservations” and someone there was emailing me about my getting on the wait list for reservations more than a year out.
Was this a legitimate place to make reservations? Then I went to the site mentioned by joe32F and did make a reservation for within a year’s time.
Just wondering what it was I almost did, thinking I was on the actual site for the National parks.

Curry Village has cabins (some have bathrooms, some do not and would use the shared bathroom facilities) but they typically go fast. If you enter the dates March 1 - March 2 (for example) and scroll down, you’ll see them. Perhaps these are what you were thinking of?

National Parks Reservations isn’t the best place to book your rooms. I believe it’s some type of third party site that charges reservation fees and has their own policies for cancellations, etc. On other travel forums I have read more than a few negative experiences people have had booking this way.

Better to book through the link provided on the NPS website for each park. That takes you to the website of the official park concessionaire, booking directly. Sounds like that’s what you did😀.

OP I’m the individual you PM’d about where to stay in Yosemite. I mentioned the National Parks reservations website.

Been enjoying Yosemite since the 50’s.

Have camped there, hiked there, stayed in Yosemite Lodge, The Wawona , Curry Village and at The Awahnee Hotel.

You asked, I answered.

Unfortunate you felt you received bad advice.

The National Parks Reservations website looks very much like an official parks website, but it isn’t. I didn’t know I wasn’t on the official parks website. They charge an extra 10% to make a reservation.
I am just glad to know what each website represented, since I found it confusing.

If you’re looking to stay right near lower Yosemite Falls, Yosemite Valley Lodge is the place to stay, and you make reservations at travelyosemite.com. This takes you to the concession that runs food and lodging in the valley (Aramark). They also run the Ahwanhee hotel, Curry Village, and seasonal lodging. There are usually specials that give you a 3rd night free up through March, but not for the busy spring and summer seasons.

If you’re interested in a campground, you go to recreation.gov, but these go quickly and usually fill up 5 months in advance. Yosemite is beautiful any time of year, we’ve been going since before I can remember. Lately we’ve been going during the winter to avoid crowds, but the springtime is spectacular especially when the falls are going at full tilt. Definitely something to see at least once, and be sure to get close enough to feel the spray of the falls!
