Yellowstone cabins

Hello All,

I wanted to get some feedback about cabin lodging comfort and locations in Yellowstone National Park. We have secured lodging, very last minute, for end of August thru beginning of September 2026. One location is Old Faithful Snow Lodge Frontier Cabin and the other is at Lake Lodge Frontier cabin. If anyone has lodged here can you tell me if you recommend them for a comfortable sleep and location. We tend to spend most of our time outdoors when we travel but at night we look forward to a comfortable bed and quiet time.
Thank you in advance for your feedback

I recommend either of those accommodations.

At OF I usually stay in the OF Lodge cabins because I travel solo. Those cabins are pretty small for 2 people so the Snow Lodge Frontier or Western cabins are a better bet for a couple.

I’ve not stayed at the Lake Lodge cabins but that is because I divide my time between the OF and North Entrance/Mammoth area due to my particular interests.

IF you are not 100% happy after you book, keep a tab open on your browser and look at the Xanterra website every single day. There is a lot of movement in reservations! The best tactic is to go in to the “flexible dates” option and monitor that way. Then you can just refresh each day.

We stayed at the snow lodge. It was very nice. Very comfortable. I wouldn’t hesitate to book these cabins.

Just to clarify and possibly to mitigate expectations…the actual Snow Lodge building opened in 1999. Some of the cabins are decades older but are renovated every so often. I’m traveling right now so don’t have my reference books at hand to check the actual construction dates for the cabins.

Thank you Pam and Derek for your prompt reply. I feel more confident now about our current reservations.

We stayed in a Snow Lodge Frontier Cabin in February of 2018. It reminded me of a cabin at a "Ma and Pa" resort. It was fine for us, but it's nothing like the hotel rooms in the lodge.
