Whitsundays

I will be flying into Prosperine airport on Sunday 7 December (flight arrives 1225) and leaving on Tuesday 9 December (flight is at 1300). I will be with my parents who are in their late 70s) and am looking for ideas of what we can cram in 2 days. We like the look of Hamilton Island and taking a golf buggy around the island, seeing Airlie Beach, maybe going to Whitehaven beach, but definitely want to see the Great Barrier Reef somehow. Any suggestions of how we do this and where to stay (Hamilton Island/Airlie Beach/somewhere else?) would be very appreciated!

I recently returned from Australia and part of my trip included a tour which essentially began in the Witsundays. We stayed in Airlie Beach and went snorkeling in the most stunning setting. I understand if snorkeling is not possible for your group, but a boat ride would be great. Or if you want to snorkel your parents could stay on the boat and enjoy the views. I don’t recall the name of the company we went with for the snorkel trip, but I’m sure there are a number to choose from. Airlie Beach was a cute town.
