Hi. Will be in Brisbane for one night/ one and a half days at the beginning and end of our trip to Australia in Oct/Nov. Which section of Brisbsane City is best to stay in to be in the heart of it all and close to some of the fun thing to do. Thanks!
CBD or South Bank close to a CityCat Ferry Terminal.
Thanks David. You have had great suggestions for me before with my overall itinerary...now we are into hotels and resorts :-)
Hi there,
Did you get my private message re Brisbane? If not I'll resend it.
Hi,
Re accommodation – I don’t know your budget so you can start with the following.
There are three areas close in to Brisbane city; The Valley (known as Fortitude Valley), the city proper and West End -just over the river near Southbank.
The Valley is quite trendy and going thru a renaissance over the last few years – Spicers Balfour Hotel is a boutique hotel on the edge of the Valley with plenty of transport into the city or you could walk into town in about 20 minutes.
In the city proper I’d suggest looking at either of these hotels – both centrally located and near to the river.
Next has just had a refurb and The Royal Albert is an older style hotel with large rooms
At Southbank I’d suggest Rydges but ask for a room on an upper level to appreciate the river views. It’s very close to the river and ferrys. Walk around the corner and along Melbourne St to West End, an older part of Brisbane that has plenty of small bars and restaurants
Enjoy your stay
Thanks Baz! South Bank it is and trying to book Rydges today.
