Wedding Proposal Advice in Singapore

Hi folks, I'm looking for some input on proposal spots in Singapore. Next year I'll be taking my girlfriend there and want to pop the question during our trip. On the itinerary is a visit to Gardens by the Bay, which I thought could make for a beautiful backdrop surrounded by flowers. However, I'm worried it may be crowded there. Do you all have any recommendations for alternative locations where I could have a special yet intimate proposal? Scenic views and greenery are a plus, but I'm also open to unique spots off the beaten path. Any advice on the best way to make this a truly memorable moment she'll never forget would be greatly appreciated! I'm a bit nervous but I can't wait to ask her!

Gardens by the Bay is a very popular tourist spot, and pretty much guaranteed to be very busy, so I feel that you may not quite get the feel you're looking for there.

If you're looking for outdoor/greenery etc I have a few suggestions:

  1. Pulau Ubin. An offshore island, it's a nature reserve that's like stepping back in time. There are lots of quiet spots, and you can hire bikes to get around. You reach Ubin via a short bumboat rode (about 15 mins, costs a few dollars) from Changi Point Ferry Terminal.

  2. Southern Islands- reachable by ferry, St John's, Lazarus and Kusu. Nice beach, great spots for a proposal. You can also rent a yacht and propose offshore as an alternative.

  3. Singapore Botanic Gardens. In Central Singapore, big and not as popular with tourists as Gardens by the Bay. National Orchid Garden in particular is beautiful.

If an outdoor venue is preferred then any of Simon's suggestions would work.
My alternative suggestion would be to consider Raffles - probably the most atmospheric, classic, and classy venue in the city. I imagine that if you booked a table and alerted staff to your plans they'd go out of their way to make it memorable for both of you.

That's a very good suggest, Robert. The Raffles is my favourite hotel. Options I would recommend would be La Dame de Pic (the hotel's very upmarket French restaurant - lunch or dinner), the Grand Lobby (afternoon tea) or the Raffles Courtyard (outdoors, open in late afternoon and evening for drinks and light food). I'd recommend reservations for the first two.

If it's a view you're looking for, you could go for dinner at CE LA VI (rooftop of Marina Bay Sands).

And with the original idea if Gardens by the Bay, there is a great fine dining restaurant called Marguerite that would be an option. It's in the Flower Dome). So you get the location but not the crowd.

Simon, Raffles was always our favorite too for special occasions and when hosting out of town guests. You really can't beat the ambiance of the place.

I do really appreciate your suggestion Simon, Pulau Ubin is a really great suggestion I read the link that you commented it was great place indeed, but when I made a research about your third suggestion on Singapore Botanic Gardens and I think it was perfect for proposal! I saw an article from this blog https://gowithguide.com/blog/tourism-in-singapore-statistics-2023-the-ultimate-guide-5549 It shows a part of the Garden where I can imagine me and my girlfriend strolling around and i'll be down on my knees. I think it's really perfect place! Thank you so much Simon for your suggestion and plus as you said it's not big and not as popular with the tourist which it perfect!

Good luck! And you can just take a taxi or Grab (local equivalent of Uber) to The Raffles. It's a 15 minute drive or thereabouts.

Per Simon, nothing is very far from anything else in Singapore - it's a pretty compact little place and it's easy to get around via taxi, Uber, or public transport.
One thought as it occurs to me: While the Botanical Gardens are indeed quite pretty, you might want to take into consideration the heat and humidity that Singapore is famous for. Any outside physical activity can be quite draining (and sweaty) - more so if you're not already used to humid climes.

Just a head's up.
