Waikoloa Beach/Kona, Food and Must See's

Hi all!

We are traveling to the Waikoloa Beach/Kona area for a week with 2 adults and a 4yo and 12mo. We leave Wednesday, of course, I haven't planned anything other than relaxing by the pool (as much relaxing that can be done with two little ones). Anyway, I am thinking that it would be good to get list of a few top eats and must see's. Any thoughts, tips, recs would be so appreciated.

Sincerely,

A tired mom, mommin' to the best of her ability during a pandemic and social unrest.

PS, you'll be happy to know we are already fully packed :)

The Waimea Midweek Farmers Market might be fun for you. Goes from 9 AM until 2 PM Wednesdays. A very pretty continuation of the day trip would be to drive to Kawi - we thought that Hwy 250 between Waimea and Kawi was one of the prettiest scenic drives on the Big Island, and Kawi itself was a cute little place to wander around - had some pretty good places to eat too.

Edited to add: we were on the Big Island for a week in February and there's really nothing going on up at the volcano. It's still worth seeing, but don't expect the spectacular show of previous years.
