On a whim, I checked out the Airbnb website and searched for units in Venezuela. It's worth a look. I don't plan to visit. I can't imagine life there.

Not significantly better than much of the middle east, but doent get the same attention. Pray for them and hope for the best.

It is very sad to see how badly conditions have become in Venezuela. I don't see things improving there for the foreseeable future. The government websites have some very severe warnings against travel there - https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/international-travel/International-Travel-Country-Information-Pages/Venezuela.html .

I lived in Saudi Arabia for five years and have visited several Middle Eastern countries. The Gulf states like the UAE, Oman, Bahrain, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait are nothing like Venezuela. They are wealthy countries. Egypt, while it is rich in ancient history it is very poor. Jordan is somewhere between Egypt and the Gulf states. Yemen is probably more like what you would see in Venezuela.
