I am an American entering Jordan via the Wadi Araba crossing at Eliat. I will have the Jordan pass. If what I read is correct, the visa will be issued and the visa fee waived when we enter Aqaba as long as we stay at least 3 days in Jordan? I will be traveling independently i.e. not part of a tour group. Has anyone done this and can verify this is how the Jordan Pass works at this border crossing?
We crossed at the Arava crossing as independent travelers last September. It was pretty simple. There is a big parking lot on the Israel side where we parked and then walked in the hot sun to the border facility, changed money, then took a taxi into Aqaba. The biggest glitch was that we asked the guy not to stamp our passports and he did so for mine, but his hand did it by habit for my husband's passport. Then he did his best to cross out the visa. I just hope he doesn't get grief for that botched stamp at some other country's border crossing!
We paid the extra fee to stay in Jordan just for the day. We had fun and so it was worth it for us.
