First trip to Egypt and we noticed that Uber is in Cairo. We've used Uber all over Europe and the States but am wondering if it is reliable in Cairo. Anyone had any experience with Uber in Cairo? Thanks!

Yes! We used it several times in Cairo, including pre booked Ubers to get to the airport, and it was very reliable, and extremely inexpensive. Cairo also has a good metro system which is useful for getting to areas like the Coptic quarter.

I highly recommend using Uber to get around Cairo. It's much easier to use and the price is determined before you begin the ride,just like in the US. Be aware that you will be bombarded with offers for rides if you are at the bigger sites - GEM or pyramids - so nice to arrange an Uber. . At the hotel an employee confirmed that we were getting into the correct car. Traffic in Cairo is insane especially in the evening. Be ready for longer travel times. Easy to take an Uber from your hotel to the Coptic Quarter then to the nearby NMEC then to your hotel. We weren't confident using public transportation.
