Trip to Northern India and Nepal

We just finished an excellent 12 day tour of the Golden Triangle of India, Delhi, Jaipur and Agra, as well as Kathmandu, Nepal.

The highlight were the Taj Mahal and our flight excursion to see Mt. Everest.

The Taj is way more impressive in person than via photos. It is huge and an amazing work of art.
The airplane tour to see Mt. Everest and other scenic mountains was extremely well done and we benefited from great clear weather.

We had nice hotels all around, dined well, with many great options of local cuisine (not all of it was hot).
Out guide was great.

We did the Delhi/New Delhi area visiting historic sites then our bus took us across scenic areas including much farming to Jaipur and then to Agra (the Taj) and finally back to Delhi for our flight to Nepal.

We visited many medieval and ancient historic sites, including temples, castles and other sites.

The only thing that was a bit frustrating was the terrible traffic (especially in the cities). Local drivers ignore lane markers and turn a three lane highway into 5 or six wall to wall filled with busses, trucks, cars and motorcycles. With 1.5 billion people, the roads (some are new and nice) a just filled up with travelers.
Still, it is worth the trip.
The Indian and Nepalese people are friendly and helpful. The traffic in Nepal is not as bad as India.

Traffic in northern India is especially wild. You definitely want a driver who has the experience to handle the trucks, live stock, cars, tuk tuks, motos and people. Our guide gave us a hilarious sheet describing driving in the traffic. Honk! Honk!
