My husband and I are looking for travel insurance for our upcoming trip to Antarctica. Recommendations? Thank you.

There are literally hundreds of posts on this forum about travel insurance and few good articles, too. So you might want to start by looking through those for recommendations. I've included a link to search results for the past 2 years below. You can also do comparison checks at the following sites; https://www.squaremouth.com and http://www.insuremytrip.com

I’ve purchased travel insurance in the past and never needed to make a claim, so I couldn’t really assess them. But in May, I had to cut my trip and return home because of a death in our family. I had an Allianz policy. They reimbursed me to the full amount of the level of reimbursement of the policy I had selected.

This is also a good chance to say that you cannot over document a trip! People sometimes kid me because I take screenshots of every reservation, correspondence with B&B’s thru Booking.com, and all payments I have made. I store those in an iCloud trip folder. I was able to upload some that showed which hotels I could cancel for free and others that didn’t. (One hotel wouldn’t refund my money, but they went ahead and cancelled my reservation, so that correspondence would have been lost without my screenshots.). Payment amounts, etc. were readily available from that folder. I uploaded a copy of the death certificate, my Excel itinerary and these supporting screenshots. When you’re in a stressful situation, it is wonderful to have everything stored in one spot! There was no haggling or further questions; they paid as soon as they processed it.

Shop for policies, and get a lot of good information, at either here or here. You have a lot of variables to consider.
