Touring Japan

I have done a lot of research on Japan and while we have decided to do it independently, there are two tour companies that seem to get great reviews. Inside Japan (UK based, but have people in the USA you can talk to and have a video conference with) and Samurai Tours. Also, I believe Odyssey's Unlimited and Road Scholar have trips to Japan as well.

We didn't tour Japan with a single tour company, we did it with individual tours.
However, we love Gate 1 Tours and they have some very affordable tours.

We had a wonderful experience with a tour from Odysseys Unlimited. and highly recommend their tour to Japan. Very nice hotels and an excellent guide. We included their post tour extension in Hiroshima which I highly recommend.
We added a few days independently before the tour and four days extra in Kyoto at the end. We can’t wait to return to Japan!

I've also done the Odysseys Unlimited tour but realized after that it was easy to do on my own.

I also recommend the Hiroshima extension.
