I’m a single senior and would like to visit Japan for the first time. Any tour company recommendations? Overseas Travel Adventure looks pretty good, Road Scholar looks OK. Does anyone have experience with a tour of Japan? I’m in good shape but not interested in a bike tour or hiking, just cultural sightseeing but don’t want to travel on my own.
Others may well respond, but you may also wish to do a Google search for past threads asking this question on the RS forums. Over the years, it has been asked a few times. Good luck.
I took the Odysseys Unlimited
tour of Japan my first time there. It was very good.
Learn some of the rules/customs and stay away between June and September.....way too hot, rainy and humid. I did the tour in October/November and the weather was perfect.
The tour price includes airfare but you can pay for the land only price and arrange your own flights. I did that.
I did this Gate 1 small group Japan tour and thought it was very good.
I did a tour with Inspiring Vacations. It was low cost, but provided good value. While I haven’t done Gate 1 in Japan, I have toured with them elsewhere and they were also good.
We are seniors and often travel with Eldertreks - they specialize in small group tours for folks over age 50. Group sizes are never more than 16. Guides, accommodation, itineraries always excellent. We took the Japan trip in October 2023 and thoroughly enjoyed it. They are a small company based in Toronto and often have more American travellers than Canadian; most people are in the 70+ age group.
