Tokyo Airports

Between Narita and Haneda, is one airport easier when it comes to getting into Tokyo?

Haneda by far - it's only about 20 minutes from the city center.

Narita is a lot farther away from the city center, but it depends on just where you are going. They both have bus and rail service.

I agree that Haneda is easier depending on where in Tokyo you are going.

As indicated above, it will take almost an hour on the Narita Express to get into central Tokyo and it won't be cheap. Other lines may be cheaper but will take longer and probably require connections. The JR Rail pass does work on the Narita Express but one has to consider the cost of that v/s a one way ticket.

But like many other destinations, say London, Narita, like Heathrow, will likely offer cheaper options as opposed to Haneda, or in the example Gatwick. Go first by cost, another 20 to 30 minutes to your destination is minor.

Frank, I used to fly into Tokyo on business 6-8 times per year and found that Haneda provided the quickest, cheapest, and most convenient access into the city center. It's close enough that it actually brings taxis into the transportation mix - the cost of a taxi, especially if there are 2 or 3 in your party, isn't that much more expensive than the airport bus from Narita, which will take about an hour longer to get to a destination in the city. Combine that with the convenience of door to door service with luggage and the choice is pretty obvious.

I'm flying in and out of Haneda.

I'm paying for the flight from the U.S to Tokyo and it was cheaper into Haneda. The flight out of Japan to London is using miles and there was only one flight the entire week I needed to leave. It was also out of Haneda.

We flew direct from Atlanta to Narita in2015 and had we picked flights going to Haneda, we would have had to transfer in the US. Glad we did the direct flight. Narita Express going right into Tokyo Station, which is in downtown Tokyo and was close to our hotel.
