Hi. When using GRAB in Vietnam with a credit card stored in the app, is there an option to add a tip for the driver? Are there suggested percentages as there are on Uber? And what is a reasonable, average tip for a ride? Thanks

A tipping option will appear after you leave a 5☆ rating. Tipping is not as customary or mandatory as in N. America. Or use cash for the tip.

Absolutely, yes you can add a tip using grab in Vietnam. We were just there in December 2025 and did it numerous times! It worked just like with Uber/Lyft. The app didn’t suggest a percentage. I’m not sure what others tip, but we typically tipped a higher percent (20% or more) because the rides were so inexpensive ($2, give or take)!
One thing we learned is that in HoiAn, cars are prohibited from driving in parts of the historic old town. But the app didn’t show us that. Luckily our hotel concierge told us where to get off so that we’d be closest to our destination, and that worked well.

Grab makes tipping on the app easy. I'm almost positive you don't need to give a 5 star review to tip the driver. Grab takes a small cut of the tip. Tip whatever you want, but I typically overtipped anyway.
