Yes. From the moment you leave the museum main entrance you will be constantly approached by people offering you a ride. Before choosing a driver agree on a price. Cash is preferred, in crisp US bills or euros. You can also use Uber, which is very reliable in Cairo. There is a designated area to meet your ride. We were in Cairo in November. Only used Uber. I suggest using Welcome Pickup when you arrive to get to your hotel. Know that Cairo traffic is insane. There are no rules . Only cross streets with the locals. The GEM is fantastic and the audio tour was exceptional. Plan on spending the day. We loved Egypt. Enjoy.

Oops. I read your post quickly and only focused on the GEM. You can get a ride from the Pyramids too. So many drivers are available.

Just seconding the suggestion to use Uber- I don't normally use this service but we used it our whole time in Cairo and it was very convenient and incredibly inexpensive. Also, if you are booking a guided tour of the pyramids these often include collection and drop off at your hotel (or wherever you want to go) in case that's an option for you.
