Thanks to my forum friends, I now have all my hotels booked for our 4+ weeks in Australia.
I am working on my itinerary for Tasmania and I have a few miscellaneous questions.
*The ticket for the Port Arthur historical sight includes a boat trip. Would this give us a view of Cape Raoul or Remarkable Cave? Also, I'm reading differing thoughts on whether folks can go down to the beach for Remarkable Cave?
*In Freycinet, I'd really like to hike to the Wineglass Bay lookout. I do have some input from forum folks on how long this hike would take. In my reading, I'm getting anything from 1 hour to 3 hours to do the lookout, round trip. Any other thoughts on how long this would take?
*We really would like to get some nice views of the Bay of Fires. We are most interested in viewpoints with the bright orange algae. I do see what looks like minor roads along the coast. The road seems to go as far as "The Gardens" Looking for recommendations for the best places to stop for views.
Bay of Fires. Just park at The Gardens and wander off from there.
Wineglass Bay Lookout. Just out to the lookout and back? They recommend 60 to 90 minutes, that would be very unhurried.
Remarkable Cave. Haven't visited since 2010. Back then you could get down to it on the beach but it looks like they now have a viewing platform so I am not sure how close that allows you.
I have not done a Port Arthur boat trip so not sure where it would take you. I have seen boats doing Cape Raoul and also Tasman Arch but not sure whether that is on your ticket.
The time it takes to walk to the Wineglass Bay lookout depends on how fit you are. It is all uphill and some of us stop regularly to catch breath. The descent is much quicker.
