Has any one got any tips or advice for traveling to Taiwan? We are hoping to go in April of this year.
do you know about the current China issues?
About the only issue I can recall from my years traveling to Taiwan on business is that there used to be restrictions in place precluding direct flights between mainland China and Taiwan - had to go thru Hong Kong if connecting between the two countries.
If arriving from any other destination there were no restrictions.
The best tip I can offer is that the subway in Taipei is first rate, and is a cheap and convenient way to get around the city. It seemed to be overlooked by foreign visitors - I only ever saw locals on the trains.
From SeaTac there is non-stop flights to Taipei through EVA airline. I wouldn't be too concerned about the situation with China unless it is further escalated dramatically. I have family and friends in Taiwan and life goes on as usual. People are very friendly in Taiwan and you will find many people, especially the younger generation, speak some English. You need to visit one of the night markets if you go. Amazing food.
