I'm going to be arriving in Sydney this Sunday and will be spending roughly 4 days there pre- and post-cruise. Just wondering how essential it is to make restaurant reservations in advance.

I would always reserve a preferred restaurant, otherwise there are so many restaurants to choose from that you can just browse and choose one in your vicinity that looks good. The menus are always posted at the front of the entrance.
If you do want to book a particular restaurant, most use a booking service on their website. Click on the link and you are directed to available dates and times to make the reservation. Easy. Some extremely popular restaurants may require a deposit due to no-shows.
