I stayed in some great hotel from people on this forum and rick's books. I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations of places to stay in Sydney Australia that is near the Opera House area?

The self-catering feature makes it a very cost-effective alternative to some of the pricier hotels in the Rocks area - and you can't beat the location...a short stroll to Circular Quay, the Opera House and the Botanical Gardens.

good suggestion, while I have not stayed there, I have stayed in the area many times, with work etc. the 'rocks' area is a great location for seeing all the tourist attractions. with the train station at circular quay ( near the opera house) and armed with an Opal card you can be up-town and even back to central station in a matter of minutes.
