Hi- we have one entire day when we can travel from Shanghai to Suzhou and Tongli- looking for advice as to whether we can see both towns in one long day and if so can you recommend a tour operator and English speaking guide? If you had to choose to visit EITHER Suzhou OR Tongli- which would you choose? Thank you!

Went to Souzou not Tiongli. Take cruise through the waterways and you’ll see daily life, slop buckets emptied into river along with everything else. Went to silk factory but ties were not in style for US men. It was an OK day. Lots of tourists.
My spouse stayed behind in Shanghai and had a wonderful day.

Suzhou is ok- but extremely polluted. Zhu Jia Jiao is a bit nicer (less of a tourist trap). If you want to see a place that is really lovely take a detour and go to Hangzhou.
