Suggestions for NYC tour company

Hi Travelers, looking for some advice on NYC tours and food tours. Smaller group, public transportation ok, hotel suggestions?
Thanks!

Another vote for Foods of NY. We liked one of their food tours so much that we signed up for a second one the following day - both were excellent!

What time of year? What part of town? What are your interests?

For a general NYC tour, there are several HOHO (hop-on/hop-off) bus tours that give a nice overview of the city basics, but you want some decent weather.

If you are doing the "classic" NYC sites (Times Sq, Empire State, Central Park, etc) mid-town is a good spot for a hotel. Check your favorite national chains (I like the Cambria). Look for locations close to the subway hubs - Grand Central, Penn Station, etc.
