St Martin french part shopping

What is the shopping like in SM? I’d like to bring back souvenirs and maybe some clothes or toys for preschool grandchildren. Can you buy French items or locally made ones? Do I need to look out for “made in China” knockoffs? We’ll be on the French side.
Best places to shop?

One thing we got at St. Martin was "51" pastisse. Impossible to find in the U.S. We aleways bring some back with us from France.

I have been to St. Martin. I found it was an expensive touristy place made popular because so many celebrities have homes there.

It was my least favorite Caribbean Island. I can't imagine what you would buy there that would be locally made.

Hi Judy!
We like the Henri Bourdoin Pastis, finding it more herbal and less sweet than the other more commercial Pastis. What is "51" like?

51 is more "commercial" / less fancy than Henry Bardouin. The taste is relatively mild, weaker than Ricard.

Hi,
I don't drink pastisse, so I can only go by my husband's comments. He did live for a few years in Marseille, and still has family there, so I guess it is like bourbon, each brand has its own particular taste. I don't think I have ever heard of Henri Bourdoin. Always looking for a new bottle to surprise my hubby with, so will be on the lookout for it here in So. Calif.
Merci, Balso.
