Need some help decided between two Southeast Asia routes in late June/July.
To give some background, we will be coming from Turkey after a month spent around the country. After we close out one of the month long options below, we will be spending a month in either Koh Tao or Koh Samui…
We are planning to dive during this portion of the trip (as well as Thailand after). I guess what I’m most worried about is too much beach “vacation vibe” time. We want a blend of culture, good food and deep experience, mixed with nature. While that would usually push me towards option 1, I feel like given the time of year and bent towards diving, maybe option 2?
OPTION 1:
Con Dao, Vietnam - 6 nights
Siem Reap - 4 nights
Phnom Penh - 2 nights
Kampot + Kep - 5 nights
Kuala Lumpur - 4 nights
Borneo - 10 nights
Bangkok - 3 nights
Note: I understand it’s rainy season in Cambodia in July!
OPTION 2:
Denpasar - 2 nights
Ubud or Uluwatu - 3 nights
Lombok - 5 nights
Gili islands - 4 nights
Kuala Lumpur - 4 nights
Borneo - 10 nights
Bangkok - 3 nights
