Does anybody know of a good message board community to discuss/learn about travel in the south Pacific?
Something like this community would be ideal, but I think I'm dreaming about finding it.
I've done a few searches online and even the travel writer/site whose name begins with "F" was not very active. Seems maybe last message in discussions was 2021.
I'm mostly interested in French Polynesia.
I appreciate any direction you can provide.

Hi Tim, I know of zero message boards. However I have travled a lot in the South Pacific. Are you going to SCUBA dive? Some of the dive operatiors have Facebook pages, perhapes that would help you find the information your look for. J
Probably the best out there is TripAdvisor (see TripAdvisor South Pacific Forums and drill down). We are spoiled here by the good signal-to-noise ratio (and generally well-informed, mostly well-behaved participants), so adjust your expectations accordingly. Experiences elsewhere are often more, um, mixed.
If, as referenced above, you are a scuba diver, you'll get better, more targeted info for blowing bubbles on ScubaBoard.
Pickings may be slim, depending on where your focus is. Some of these forums have been very quiet during the pandemic; some have always been sparse.
I miss the old Lonely Planet Thorntree forums. 🙁

I'm not going for SCUBA. I'm strictly a top-part-of-the-water kind of guy.
I'm aiming to capture the beauty of the islands with my camera. And try to spend some leisure time on the beach. reading or watching the tides or just catching some rays.
The next edition of Lonely Planet's Tahiti & French Polynesia Guidebook is due out next month. We traveled to Tahiti and Bora Bora back in April. Great trip with beautiful scenery. Easy flight from LAX to PPT although it leaves at about 11:30pm and arrives before dawn (gives you time for a short layover before flying out to Bora Bora or another island - PS: Moorea is only a short ferry ride away). You can also fly there from SFO.
