South America: electrical adapters

Hello,

This fall, I will visit Lima and Cusco, Peru … Buenos Aires … Montevideo … and two smaller cities in Uruguay.

Please advise on the best electrical adapter for these travels.

Thank you very much.

Have experience only with Argentina and Uruguay, where I have relatives.

Buy the type I and the type C adapter.

Type I is the common standard, however many apartments and hotels will have both sockets.

Most electrical devices nowadays are dual voltage, so you won’t need a converter. Both Argentina and Uruguay use 220V.

Just buy a set of every type, there are only four or five and then you're sure to be covered.

I've seen comments where universal adapters are often too big or oddly shaped and won't stay in the outlet, or can't reach the plugs properly.

I moved to Lima a few months ago and can confirm Peru uses the American plug type as well as C.
