Solo Travel Help – Where to Stay in Fiji for 2 Nights in August?

Hey all — I’m a 35-year-old male traveling solo and will have a long layover in Fiji this August on my way back to LAX from Australia. I land in Nadi on August 21st around 7pm and fly out on the 23rd at 9pm, so basically two nights and a full day to work with.

Looking to end a long trip on a relaxing note — think beaches, maybe a snorkel trip, and ideally a place that feels laid-back and scenic. Not super into the big resort vibe of Denarau; it seems a little too polished/touristy for me.

Budget is flexible (up to ~$500/night if it’s worth it). Would love suggestions for:

Chill places to stay (boutique hotels, island resorts, etc.)
If it’s worth trying to get out to the Mamanucas or Yasawas for just 2 nights
Any favorite day trips or beaches for someone just looking to unwind
Thanks in advance!

Waya Lailai Eco Haven resort. Run for decades by the Fijians who live in the island’s villages. Has great hiking, diving and swimming. Boat transfer from Nadi’s Denarau port takes about three hours. Prices on the website are in Fijian dollars, so prices are half the listed amount in US dollars w/ meals included. ( Dorms $70, Rooms $170).

I don't think there are any ferries to any islands that run late enough for you given your 7pm arrival.

I'm looking at https://www.fiji-bookings.com/ferry/south-sea-cruises-fiji and https://malolocat.com/timetable/.

If you want to stay on Viti Levu one night and then one night on an island, you could do that. I stayed at Lomani Island Resort (https://www.lomaniisland.com/) and really loved it. They had snorkeling excursions every day. And it was very laid back, with a super friendly staff. Adults only, and as a solo traveler, I found the vibe very friendly among guests.

Because of fear of missing my flight, I would stay close, in Nadi or Lautoka.

If you are braver go to Beachcomber Island in the Mamanucas (https://beachcomberfiji.com/). They run a boat service to/from Denarau (near Nadi). THE BEST snorkelling I've ever done in my life.

Or you could compromise, stay in Nadi, and do Beachcomber as a day trip.
