As much as I dislike answers that tell people to look elsewhere, I am going to recommend Trip Advisor Travel Forum. You will be guaranteed to find some local experts there.

You may get some great answers here, but I would look there as well.

We are more brewery/grill folks, but if I was going for fine dining I would look at Chef Lances, Ironwood, or Rivage Oak Kitchen. They all have great reviews and are close to the falls. We usually try to get lodging in that downtown area.

There is a show at Catfish Bay Waterski Park tonight.

If you are headed to the Black Hills, I have a lot of recommendations of restaurants I've actually eaten at.

Rapid City - finer dining would include Tally's Silver Spoon, Wine Cellar, Delmonico

In the Alex Johnson Hotel the Vertex Sky Bar (Jupiter for food) at the top of the building and Paddy O'Neill's for a casual experience on ground level

Colonial House for good food in a more typical setting is always a safe option. Bar/grills: Thirsty's, Murphy's, Independent Ale House. The food trucks along Omaha across from Log Cabin brewery are very popular.

Our grandson chose his favorite for his birthday in April - Himalayan Kitchen. It was delicious, but I had to have someone help me pick.

Keystone has the Powder House, Custer has Skogen's Kitchen (fine dining), and Alpine Inn in Hill City is a favorite but check out the webpage because they close between lunch and dinner, only take cash, and have limited options for dinner. It has been several years since we've stopped there, but Black Hills Burger and Buns in Custer was very good every time we did eat there.

I always enjoy eating at any of the Custer Park lodges for the settings. Sylvan Lake is my favorite.

Seconding the Colonial House, comfort food excellent value.

Hope you found some good food in Sioux Falls. We just flew home from there yesterday. We ate at Parker's, which I thought was fair. Crawford's was a good meal for me but so much for my husband. We had lunch one day at Minerva's which was very good.
Have a nice trip. We just spent 2 weeks road tripping through South and North Dakota.
