My husband and I are wanting to travel to Sihanoukville Cambodia December 2017. We've been travelling Europe for months now and just want to go somewhere inexpensive to relax, not to mention it looks beautiful there with a lot of culture. I am just wondering though about our safety. I've been looking into it and of course find horror stories about missing or murdered tourists, police scams, and robberies. Our paranoi is also a bit high after being robbed by police in Macedonia recently. I'm hoping that someone who has been to Sihanoukville recently can provide some insight into the safety situation. Is it really as dangerous as some news articles portray? We are very cautious travellers, we don't party or do drugs and being out at night will not be an issue. I would appreciate any feedback.
Hi Stacey -
I'd highly advise posting your question on Lonely Planet's Thorn Tree forum? I've a feeling you might get a few more responses there than on this one.
