Hey, this is Rick Steves' Europe
They are posting in the "Beyond Europe" forum, and I, for one, am interested in the responses, as I am hoping to travel to Southeast Asia soon.
I'm not sure I'm answering your question, but we went to Bali in 2019. My two favourite spots were Munduk, (walking to all the waterfalls and smelling the cloves that were drying.). And Amed, where we were right on the beach, snorkled etc.
Much of Bali is very touristy and so I'm not always sure what is very authentic anymore. But the people in these smaller areas were lovely to talk with and visit with.
For BB, I'll watch if you post! Also the tripadvisor forum was where I found most of my information. My one piece of advice is skip Kuta and maybe Sanur as well.
Thanks, Lisa!
Thanks Lisa from Calgary!
I will check those out.
I was hoping to be spoon fed a name and contact information for a Balian healer, for someone who arranges participation in “ ceremonies “ celebrations, and watching performances of a traditional dance troupe. 🙏🏻
check out the recent film "Ticket to Paradise" with George Clooney and Julia Roberts. Set in Bali, and centers on a wedding there.

I found everyone in Bali very aimed at helping you find what you want. We stayed in smaller hotels or rented homes. Our hosts would always arrange transportation etc. I'm sure you will find they can help you with what you are looking for too.
