Second honeymoon

My husband (38 yo M) and I (34 yo FM) are planning a trip late Feb/early March 2023 for our 10th anniversary. We work together and it is the only time we can get off together so timing is not negotiable. We have 2 small children (1 and 3 at time of travel) that will stay with grandparents. We planned on returning to Bora Bora but it is a bad time to go for weather. We want to go somewhere warm and with adventurous stuff to do. We traveled a lot before children and are excited to have 6-8 days (not including travel days) alone. We live in San Diego and can fly out of SAN or LAX. We have been to Hawaii and Mexico numerous times and are looking for something different. We were thinking the Caribbean but would like some recommendations as we have never been. We don't want the typical all inclusive and just stay at the hotel. We want a little fancy but with fun things to do (waterfall repelling, ride ATVs, jet skis etc). Any suggestions on hotel or locations (including outside the caribbean) would be appreciated. Let me know if additional information needed and thank you in advance! We haven't traveled in 2 years much and we are excited to travel again without kids!

Have you considered taking a Caribbean cruise? I took one last January out of Puerto Rico and it was great in that we were visiting a different island each day with multiple activities available, but you were back in the same room each night.

I have not. We took an Alaskan cruise and decided we are not cruise people. However we could get a balcony room and it would be a very different experience! Thank you for the suggestion, I appreciate it. Has me thinking outside the box

Have you thought about Costa Rica? Incredible natural beauty, hiking, waterfalls, wildlife, beach, and a variety of hotel options.

What about Costa Rica? That could be a nice combination of romantic and adventurous. For example, we stayed at the Tabacon Hot Springs Resort, and activities nearby included a Hanging Bridges walk (with wildlife spotting), ziplining, and waterfall climbing. Plus, the hot springs are fabulous. If you stay at the resort hotel, you get unlimited access to the hot springs included, and there's a section that is for adult hotel guests only. The spa is lovely, too. We had a wonderful, outdoor (but private) couples massage.

If you want a bit more variety, you could split your time between Arenal and the coast. We went to Manuel Antonio, because we were interested in the wildlife, but there are other, beachy areas you might like, too. At Manuel Antonio, we stayed at two places and loved them both: Arenas del Mar (on the beach, had two pools, and LOTS Of wildlife, including a baby sloth that spent about 20-30 minutes on the ground right beside us) https://www.arenasdelmar.com , and Cockpit Cottage at Costaverde (lots of monkeys and some sloths, too. Plus an adult pool and a gorgeous view). https://costaverde.com/accommodations-2/cockpit-cottage/

Edited to add that I wasn't copying you, Barbara. You must have posted while I was typing. (Great minds, and all that. :) )

How about Puerto Rico. Lots to do, El Moro Castle, wander thru old town, take day to visit the rain forest and fly to Vieques for a couple of days snorkeling, the luminescent Bay etc. usually great weather.
